An Amazing Surprise

Every year, spring itself is like a huge surprise to me.  After a long, gray winter, I’m always surprised at how stunning the bright green grass looks and how breathtaking the sun looks, streaming through leaves.  After many years of this, it seems that feeling wouldn’t happen, but it always does. More sun and more color = more happy.

And, sometimes, there’s a surprise right outside the back door.  Like this robin’s nest. (Surprising, too, how fast the mama robin built the nest.) But the biggest surprise of all…

robin's nest in spring

was this little guy.  The nest was so high, that I had to reach up and point my camera into the nest, without a visual of what was inside.  After I took the picture, THIS was what I saw on the screen (!) My favorite spring surprise so far.

What’s outside your back door this spring?

  1. I'm so glad to see new posts from you!! And those pictures are breathtaking! We live very in the woods so last spring's surprise was five bears in our garden – a mama and four cubs! This year we found a cute salamander and a hornet's nest! Not good surprising, but surprising. The grass is very lush and the tulips are so vibrant, they're almost done for the season. This is my first spring without terrible allergies so I've been very much enjoying it.

  2. WOW, that is so wonderful Pam. What a gift for you to find this hungry little bird on your camera. Thank you for sharing your blessing with us. I'm in awe. God is good, ALL the time. ~ Abby

  4. Love that surprise.
I had an "out my backdoor" moment too but just haven't wanted to post my pic of it. It was a bald eagle. Although an amazing bird (and very large)it was in the process of finishing its breakfast which was what I'm sure was a swan.
