"Near the sea we forget to count the days." That quote is so true! I have always loved the beach, but my husband has only recently been converted to beach loving over the last few years. (He actually doesn't really like the beach, but rather, the ocean (as viewed and heard from the balcony. I have to say, I'm inclined that way now, myself.) There is something about the ocean that is so soothing, so relaxing, that the day of the week slips my mind
Anyway, husband, daughter, and I spent a few nights at Orange Beach, Alabama (near Gulf Shores) last week. (We left there a day earlier than planned, to avoid "some rain" that was coming, and we really dodged a bullet. The area we left was hit with historic rainfall and flooding the next day!)
Son stayed home for classes and work. (I really didn't feel guilty--he hates the beach. WHAAT?! But I would still have loved to have him with us. As he said, the pictures look as though he is "erased from the family.")
We were thrilled to have a full moon our second night there,
and this view. Wow. I'd never seen the moonlight on the ocean like that before.
But it's back to the real world now, and there is a lot to do.
Some upcoming projects---daughter's vegetable garden, home remodeling, art journaling, and calligraphy projects. I promise to keep you updated.
Psalm 62:1-2
My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.
I love being near the water too! Looks dreamy!
ReplyDeleteIt was a very relaxing break, Laura!
DeleteOh how I love the beach. I sure miss it now that I now longer live near it! Beautiful photos. Thanks for stopping by on my SITS day. xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Janny. The beach is one of my favorite things to photograph.
DeleteThanks for your kind comment at my blog! And thank-you for letting me know you enjoyed the song, also. It's always a treat seeing new people at my blog and I hope to see you again. Oh, and you don't look old enough to have a high-school-graduating daughter! :) Blessings, Debra
ReplyDeleteYOU MADE MY DAY! Thanks Debra.
DeleteSounds glorious! We take a time-out from the real world and head to Tybee Island, GA every summer. A few days there and I'm ready to tackle everything when I get back!
ReplyDeleteI have heard good things about Tybee Island, Tori. Would love to visit there.
DeleteIt looks like you had a wonderful time. And that night shot is amazing!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing. Stopping by from SITS.
It was great, Robin. Thanks--that moon was incredible!
Delete{Melinda} I've lived in Florida for most of my life, but I'm with your husband. I enjoy the beach just fine from a distance, thank you very much.
ReplyDeleteI love the beauty of the ocean, but I hate all the sand and how it tracks into your car and then into your house and all the wet towels... plus, I was born with very little pigment so there's the whole sunburn thing... I know, I need to just get over it and enjoy God's beauty with my family! It sounds like you did -- good for you!
Yes, the older I get, the more I enjoy the ease of the balcony and not having to get rid of all the sand,Melinda!
Deleteoh wow..lucky you!! your photos are amazing...and sounds like the trip was too...good for you!
ReplyDeleteI am your newest follower..pls follow back if you can.
Thank you for the compliments. It was a beautiful place for photography.
DeleteI'm so glad that you got to enjoy your vacation at the beach and your pictures are WONDERFUL! The moon is gorgeous, and I love how you captured it!
ReplyDeleteThank you Mrs. Smith! Yes, I am still in awe of that moon.
DeleteSo nice to get away and take a much needed vacation. Isn't it? Looks like you guys had fun and how beautiful those pictures are. Especially love the one with the moon. So gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Sela. Yes, even a few nights away does wonders.
DeleteWow! I love that shot of the moon. Fabulous! We love the ocean. We need to plan a getaway soon. We usually end up in Monterey, CA. It's a two-hour drive from home and we can make it a quick weekend.
ReplyDeleteOh, how I wish we lived closer to an ocean. We are 12 hours away from the closest beach.
