Focusing on the Why

Bad light and not too sharp, but aren't they cute?
This past weekend consisted of temperatures way over 100 (weirdest summer I can ever remember),  cake and ice cream, and several small children. (We babysat for a 4 year old niece and a 10 month old nephew, and then attended another niece (age 6) and nephew's (age 8) birthday party. (I'm still tired.)  The six year old niece seriously looks a lot like the little girl in Brave.  Don't you think so? That's her on the right (wearing her Brave ribbon) with my daughter.

The eight year old nephew has just about had it with my picture taking obsession. I've officially become the annoying aunt who takes "millions" of pictures. So I had to back off a little.  (Thank goodness girls usually like to have their picture taken!)    Instead of a hundred photos to edit, I only had a few, so I played with the few I had. And they aren't the greatest. (Hurried, unfocused shots, cluttered backgrounds.)  But I realized that, more often, I need to focus (no pun intended!)  on why I'm taking these pictures -- that preserving the memory is much more important than getting that brilliant photo.

I admit, I enjoyed sitting back and relaxing at the party,  rather than scurrying around trying to create the perfect photo series.  (But I can't promise I'll sit back every time...)

  1. She does look like the girl from Brave. Oh my goodness! I love her hair.

  2. I'm right there with you - the annoying mom who takes pictures constantly! That little sweetheart has the most beautiful hair! I found you via the Mom's Mingle and am happy to be your newest follower! I'd love a visit back at! :)

  3. My daughter is 10 and is now sick of me snapping pictures, she hides whenever I turn the camera on.

  4. I'm right there with you. I'm trying to back off a bit from all of the picture taking. Your daughters are so beautiful. It looks like she loved being Brave for the day while enjoying her birthday. So sweet!

  5. I have so few pictures at events bc I am too busy running the party. happy birthday to your sweet ones

  6. Cute pictures Pam. Lovely lovely girls.

  7. Oh my! She does look like Merida in Brave! She's darling!

I was amused by your description of your "obsession". Same here--just teaching my family patience. . . ;)

  8. Participating in Mom's Monday Mingle for the first time & I'm your newest follower! :)
