One Angry Goose
Photography
Monday, July 15
My daughter and I were taking another little photo walk at a park a few weeks ago. "Let's take some pictures of the geese," I said. I kept getting a little closer to the geese, and a little closer, and a little closer. (What can I say, I like to take portraits, even of geese.)
One big goose didn't like that.
When I got a bit too close for him to tolerate, he made a really scary sound. And I was finished. (My daughter did try to warn me.)
To get a portrait, even of a goose, I set my camera on Aperture Priority and use a wide aperture (small number) to help blur the background. If you want the whole scene in focus, including the background, use a narrow aperture (big number.)
My daughter also gave me some great tips about metering when shooting in manual. She often uses spot metering, which I have never used much before, so I experimented with that and learned some new things. I am so glad she likes photography.
This beautiful duck wasn't as aggressive as the goose. Not aggressive at all, actually. He posed for me.
I always wanted to have horses like these. I'm glad I can see them at the park.
They provide some benefits for the garden too.
Have a great week!

Really beautiful shots, Pam! I'm trying to learn more about aperture, so I appreciate the tips!
ReplyDeleteBe sure to stop by my blog today, if you can. I'm having a giveaway for a FREE 8 x 10 Easy Canvas! Would sure love to have you join in! :)
Nice photos! I love the aperture work. 'Cause sometimes I want a blurred background and sometimes I don't! Nice to see you here again.
ReplyDeleteNice picture. I like that no #2. I remember when I was little, I hate visiting my grandparents because they have geese that will always ready to attack whenever they see strangers.

Enjoyed those photos. And the photography helps.
ReplyDeleteHey Pam!!! It is so great to see you!!! I miss you when you aren't around and I miss getting inspired with your beautiful pictures, too! These are marvelous!! If the goose didn't get you, it looks worth it that you made him angry with such a good shot! When I first started realizing my love for photography, I took up close pictures of a horse with a flash on, poor thing! What was I thinking? He put up with me, but he never forgot! That horse didn't care a thing for me in years to come afterwards!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry that you are having home issues. You're right, it's life, and I have to remind myself of that sometimes!
I was so happy to see your comments yesterday!! Thank you for taking the time to do that!! Hugs, dear Pam!! :)
I love geese, so of course I love these pictures! I am constantly taking photos of geese, ducks, chickens, even pigeons when I get the chance. Even the scary mean ones! haha Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteYour photos are gorgeous! I use my phone and a new digital Canon Powershot. Dreaming of the day I can get a DSLR!
